Prof. Leszek F. Demkowicz awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa of Poznan University of Technology

Prof. Leszek F. Demkowicz, a renowned specialist in computational methods in science and engineering, has been awarded the honorary degree of Doctor Honoris Causa by Poznan University of Technology. The Senate of PUT recognized his outstanding scientific, teaching, and organizational achievements as well as his long-standing collaboration with the university.

The award ceremony took place during the international GAMM 2025 conference hosted by Poznan University of Technology.

A graduate of Cracow University of Technology and Jagiellonian University, Prof. Demkowicz is currently Deputy Director of the Oden Institute at The University of Texas at Austin. Author of nine books and over 260 scientific papers, he is widely cited for his contributions to adaptive finite element methods, computational acoustics and electromagnetics, and the discontinuous Petrov–Galerkin method.
