Professor Janusz Orkisz’s 90th Jubilee

On April 28, 2025, at Cracow University of Technology, a joint meeting of the Section of Computational Methods of the Committee on Mechanics of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Section of Structural and Material Mechanics of the Committee on Civil and Water Engineering of the Polish Academy of Sciences was held.

The meeting was combined with the celebration of the 90th birthday of Prof. Janusz Orkisz, a distinguished scientist in the field of computational mechanics, long-standing academic teacher, and a mentor to many generations of engineers and researchers. Prof. Orkisz has made significant contributions to the development of numerical methods and their applications in mechanics.

On behalf of the Polish Section of GAMM, Prof. Mieczysław Kuczma, Chair of PSGAMM presented a formal address to Prof. Orkisz, expressing appreciation and recognition of his scientific achievements and lifelong dedication to the academic community.
